Located about 50 meters west of the Palamas Residence, this is a two-storey stone building, registered as a historical monument. It was built in 1730 by Georgakis Trikoupis. After his death, his only son Matthew (1725-1802) and then his son Ioannis Trikoupis (1750-1824) lived there with their families.
The original building was on the seaside, as the current state of the town here is the result of later extensions and embankments. In the Exodus of Messolonghi in April 1826 it was almost completely destroyed. It was rebuilt on the same site in the 1850s by the sons of Ioannis, Apostolis and Themistocles, brothers of Spyridon Trikoupis, the first prime minister of the independent Greek state. His son Charilaos (1832-1896), also seven times prime minister, lived there and had a special connection with the house. Since 1900, when it was repaired, the descendants of Themistocles Trikoupis have continued to live there without interruption.
In 1992 it was donated by Konstantinos Trikoupis (1926-2002) to the Municipality of Messolonghi. It has been operating since 1994 as a museum of the family’s possessions, since it was restored under the care of the Municipality and with the financial support of the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Affairs. It has a large surrounding area of 2,500 sq.m. which is used for events.
