Since September 2020, very close to the seaside settlement of Tourlida, there has been operating the only private museum in Greece dedicated to salt. The region has a close relationship with salt. The museum is housed in an old building from 1946, formerly the residence of the salt workers, located in the area of Alyki Tourlida, and was granted by the Municipality for the creation of the Museum.

The Museum has five rooms. It provides information on everything related to salt and its thousands of uses, as well as on the salt marshes of Messolonghi and the processes of salt cultivation and production. It also includes works of art made with salt and the only collection in Greece of saltcellars of all shapes and materials. They amount to about 1,500 and date from 1800 onwards.

The museum offers educational programmes and guided tours and has a shop selling salt-related products. Events are periodically organised on the premises.
