One km south of the village of Galatas, within a privately owned area, there is a church dedicated to Agios Ioannis the Prodromos (St. John the Baptist), built as a variant of the single-aisled cross-roofed form. It has a few single windows, which, like the doors, are surrounded by arched bands. The north door is accessible through an arched porch. It is registered as a historical monument. It has a fresco decoration with representations of the Palaiologian period, though in poor condition; they date from the late 13th to early 14th centuries. It is probably the katholikon church of a monastery, to which the Bishop of Athens Michael Choniatis refers in a letter of his, as located in the bay of Kalydon. In the lower part of the church, the reuse of ancient building material can be observed.
